Jurassic World Alive
Jurassic World Alive review
Jurassic World Alive is an AR game for mobile devices developed by Ludia. It is available for free on Android and iOS and offers to collect dinosaurs in the world of augmented reality.
Gameplay: Pokémon Go with Dinosaurs
The AR game developers have not yet invented something new to make the players go outside. Jurassic World Alive utilizes exactly the same gameplay concept as in Pokémon Go. The player has to walk the street and find dinosaurs, which he can later level up and use in battles.
However, there are some interesting mechanics in Jurassic World Alive game. For example, you can make a custom hybrid of two dinosaurs in the lab section. There are also alliances for players to group up and raids available for participation. The battles themselves are available against other players right away.
Graphics: Could be Better
The graphics are not so great in Jurassic World Alive. The developers have tried to make the dinosaurs look realistic, but like the visual effects in a low budget movie, the graphics seem to weigh nothing. The dinosaurs lack reflections, realistic movements and many other small details to impress you with their look.
The developers could have made the game in a cartoony style, which would allow it to properly present the dinosaurs, but they have made their choice to do a realistic thing. Looking at Minecraft Earth we can definitely say that the graphics in Jurassic World Alive could be much better.
Controls: Typical AR
In terms of controls, Jurassic World Alive does not have much to offer as well. There are indeed some additional gameplay features like feeding the dinosaurs and launching their animations, but those additional features are performed in several taps and do not require much effort from the player. The good thing about the controls is that they are pretty intuitive and the game is easy to learn.
- An opportunity to see the dinosaurs on the streets of your city;
- Option to collect lots of dinosaurs;
- Additional features like taking care of your dinosaurs or creating hybrids in the lab.
- Graphics are not really impressive;
- The game is too similar to other AR projects and has not so much unique to offer.
