Epic Games, Inc.
Fortnite is a popular royale battle shooter which now can be played on Android devices.
This game, which seemed like an ordinary co-op shooter, became the most popular and talked about in the world. And at the same time, it defeated the PlayStation platform isolation and became for Google the source of seven-digit numbers in the “Lost Profit” column.
Now you can't just get straight to the game. Not a top-end device? Worried about battery power or counting downloaded megabytes? Just don't like installing apps from third-party sources? Sorry, but you're walking by. The popularity of the action movie allows the evil geniuses from Epic Games, who opened this Pandora's Box, to dictate terms to the whole world. For example, limit the compatibility list to a few models or distribute the game bypassing Google Play, destroying long-standing traditions.
It is difficult to imagine a person waiting for a port on Android to join the general hysteria. But if there are such people, then their hearts will definitely be broken. The rest will not find anything new in their smartphones.
What is the Secret
The secret of Fortnite's success on all platforms is the same – a huge map, hundreds of fighters clashing for the title of sole survivor, construction sites of the century, and vivid cartoon graphics. Everything that you could see in any other version of the shooter has migrated to the mobile format.
You parachute onto the island, scour in search of at least some weapons and resources, build shelters and traps, crush rivals until you remain the last survivor ... Or, on the way to success, you die from someone else's hand: by chance, on their own inattention or – to be honest – because of problems with controls.
The map, objects, weapons and mechanics are all familiar. If you've played Fortnite for countless hours on PC or consoles, you'll feel right at home. And if not, then you can easily figure out what the advantage of your rivals is.
However, the matter may be not only in knowing the basics, but also in much more banal things. In the presence of a gamepad, for example. The shooter sometimes responds badly to pressing, then, on the contrary, goes into hypersensitivity mode.
Of course, everyone is free to customize the location of all elements for themselves and switch the shooting to automatic mode. But it still feels like you have a few broken fingers. Fitting a huge number of options on the touchscreen is not a good idea: everything turned out too small. Trying to combine shooting and building in such conditions is a real torment.
